The Adelaide United Youth Team hosts the Adelaide Hills in Round 16 of the NPL State League at the Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The Young Reds will be full of confidence heading into the match, after beating league leaders Adelaide Victory 2-0 away from home last weekend.

Midfielder and captain of the Adelaide Youth Team, Adam Piscioneri, believes that Saturdays match will be quite competitive, as earlier this season the Young Reds easily dispatched the Hawks 4-0.

“We won’t be taking this game lightly at all” said Piscioneri

“To remain competitive in this league we need to be consistent and in the last two weeks we have been but it needs to continue.

“Last week’s performance has given us the confidence and self-belief that we can finish top, but again it comes down to the performance and the way we go about our football on Saturday.”

The Young Reds who have also been injury ridden over a number of weeks have transformed, seeing players shift positions into un-familiar roles and do a fantastic job.

“We know that every person who steps out onto the pitch can do a job for us,” said Piscioneri.

“Obviously we have been dealt a few injuries, but the players who have come in are doing a fantastic job and it shows we have the depth to cover any player at any time.”

The Adelaide United Youth Team currently sits third on the table, one point off league leaders Adelaide Victory.

However, captain Piscioneri is not overly focused on the table but believes if they remain consistent and play to the style then the results will come.

“The table in my eyes isn’t as important as playing our style and being a consistent team,” expalined Piscioneri.

“If we can master both consistency and playing the style week in week out, then the results will come and obviously we will finish higher.

“So we take it one game at a time and need to be at our best to beat the Hawks on Saturday.”
