Adelaide United’s Reserves will embark on their Finals campaign against MetroStars at TK Shutter Reserve this Saturday, a week after being named Premiers of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League Reserves.

After a vibrant and stellar regular season, Adelaide United’s 6-0 dominance of Cumberland United last week, ultimately granted the Club the Premiership under Head Coach Paul Pezos.

It is a great achievement for the Club, and the side will now look forward to furthering their success in 2017.

Ninko Beric stood out throughout the season, scoring 16 goals in 21 matches, and will surely be the target man during Finals.

Head Coach, Pezos, said winning the Minor Premiership has brought immense confidence to his players, and will now have to work on some patches to achieve the Double.

“Being such a young team and winning the Minor Premiership is a great achievement for the Club,” he said.

“But now, it is where the business end starts, which is the Finals, and hopefully we can take out the Championship.

“Finals football is different to the league games every week.

“And we are a little bit inexperienced being a young team, but I think in terms of myself and other Coaches at the Club, we are quite experienced at these kind of campaigns.

“We will make sure to instil our knowledge and what needs to happen to the players, and they have done well so far as they are very versatile and can adapt.

“Ahead for the game this Saturday, those one-percenters will have to be much better, including our defending and it is critical that we put our chances away.

“We will work on being ruthless in our defending and in front of goal, and if we can achieve that on the weekend, I believe we can win the game.”

The Young Reds Reserves launch their Finals campaign against MetroStars in the Semi Final First Leg at TK Shutter Reserve on Saturday, 19 August. Kick-off is 1pm.
