Young Socceroos Honoured at Parliament House Following AFC U20 Asian Cup Triumph

South Australia’s football community, alongside Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, came together at Parliament House on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the Adelaide United cohort of the Young Socceroos following their historic victory at the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025.

The reception, attended by key football stakeholders, including Football South Australia, Football Australia, and state politicians, recognised the achievements of the players who proudly represented Australia and brought home the prestigious title.

Premier Peter Malinauskas acknowledged the significance of the team’s success, highlighting how their achievement has inspired young South Australians and reinforced the state’s strong football culture.

Adelaide United CEO Nathan Kosmina praised the Young Socceroos and the tribute paid to them, saying:

“This recognition is fitting for a group that has represented our Club, our State, and our Country with immense pride. Their achievement on the international stage is a testament to the talent, dedication, and resilience within South Australian football, and we could not be more proud.”

South Australian standout Panagiotis Kikianis also addressed the crowd, reflecting on the journey to glory.

“Many may not have expected us to go all the way, but within our squad, we knew what we were capable of. To have six South Australians on the pitch at the same time in a tournament of this magnitude speaks volumes about the footballing talent in this state,” Kikianis said.

The event concluded with a standing ovation for Fabian Talladira, Jonny Yull, Luka Jovanović, and Panagiotis Kikianis, highlighting the immense pride felt across the state for their achievement.

This victory not only cements South Australia’s reputation as a breeding ground for elite football talent but also sets the stage for future success on the international stage.
