Adelaide United is thrilled to announce the extension of promising South Australian goalkeeper Ethan Cox’s contract for another three years, securing his commitment to the Reds until 2027.
Having joined Adelaide United in 2019 from Football SA NTC, Cox has showcased his skills since his early days with stints at Salisbury United and Adelaide Croatia Raiders. His journey saw him join the FSA program in 2017 as a dual registered player.
Ethan made his Isuzu UTE A-Leagues debut last week against the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford. He has played a pivotal role in the RAA NPLSA Championship winning squad, amassing 19 appearances in Season 2023.
Ethan expressed his pride in representing his home state and emphasised the significance of having Eugene Galekovic as a role model, stating:
“I’m so happy to be staying here at the club and continue to grow.
“Being an Adelaide boy and playing for the only Adelaide club in the League is really special to me.
“Eugene is a huge role model for me at the Club and watching him play for United for many years, and seeing how he has developed here, inspires me to do the same.”
Goalkeeper Coach, Eugene Galekovic, commended Ethan’s development, saying;
“Ethan has worked tirelessly on and off the field daily, and this contract is a reward for his efforts.
“He has a very bright future ahead of him, and I look forward to seeing him develop over the coming years.”
This announcement follows a remarkable year for Adelaide United’s goalkeeping department, with notable departures like Joe Gauci and Steven Hall securing moves to English Premier League clubs.
Furthermore, James Delianov has also recently extended his stay with the Club.
Adelaide United remains committed to nurturing young South Australian talent and promoting from within its ranks.
