The ‘experts’ have picked their Hyundai A-League Team of the Season – now it’s your turn!
We’re giving fans the chance to have their say on which players they believe were the standouts from an enthralling Season 11.
Hyundai A-League Team of the Season
First up, the men between the sticks – the goalkeepers.
We’ve chosen six shot-stoppers who impressed throughout the 2015/16 campaign but it’s completely up to you to decide who earns a spot in the ‘Hyundai A-League Fans’ Team of the Year’.

Eugene Galekovic (Adelaide United)
What a season by the dependable Galekovic!
After missing the first part of the year with a knee injury, Galekovic’s return coincided with Adelaide’s improvement and he was a key figure in the Reds’ Premiership and Championship double triumph.
Thomas Sorensen (Melbourne City)
In his maiden campaign in the Hyundai A-League, the former Danish international proved to be an astute signing for City.
Sorensen played all 29 games and made a league-high 103 saves, showing all his experience to help the club make it all the way to the Semi Finals.
It will be hard to forget his remarkable 11 saves in the 2-1 win over Victory in the second Melbourne Derby of the season and the 39-year-old was voted as the competition’s best gloveman at the end-of-season Dolan Warren Awards.
Mark Birighitti (Newcastle Jets)
Always supremely gifted, 2015/16 was easily Birighitti’s most consistent and breakout campaign as a reliable shot-stopper.
The 25-year-old showed great resilience to overcome a horror facial injury in round 2 to return and play 26 games, making 98 saves for the Jets.
Seems destined to head abroad in the off-season after catching the eye with his assured performances this campaign.
Arguably the best keeper in the history of the A-League, the 34-year-old was a part of the competition’s stingiest defence, keeping 12 clean sheets in 22 games, only conceding 14 goals. Exceptional stuff!
Ante Covic (Perth Glory)
Covic continues to get better with age and enjoyed another excellent season in the west for Kenny Lowe’s side.
Now 40, the former Socceroo was a big reason behind Glory’s mid-season surge to the finals, making 74 saves and keeping five clean sheets in 28 appearances.
Andrew Redmayne (Western Sydney Wanderers)
There were a few eyebrows raised when Redmayne was announced as the Wanderers no.1 but the 27-year-old silenced the doubters by producing some brilliant performances.
In all, Redmayne played 23 games this season and kept an impressive seven clean sheets, letting in only 33 goals.
He showed great mental strength as well, overcoming the disappointment of being dropped for Liam Reddy late in the season only to fight his way back into the starting 11.
Jamie Young (Brisbane Roar)
Young underlined his talent by keeping five-time A-League champion gloveman Michael Theo out of Roar’s starting side for much of the season.
The 30-year-old played 20 games this season, conceding only 26 goals and keeping seven clean sheets.
One of the best shot-stoppers in the competition and excellent with his feet, Young also improved the other features of his game in 2015/16 to be one of the league’s best.
