The Adelaide United Youth Team will play the Adelaide Blue Eagles in Round 12 of the 2016 National Premier League at Marden Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Young Reds returned to winning ways last weekend, defeating Adelaide Olympic 2-0 courtesy of a Blake Carpenter brace.
This week, they play the Adelaide Blue Eagles who are one point behind the Young Reds and have scored the second-most goals in the competition.
The Young Reds’ Head Coach, Mark Jones, is confident that his side can overcome the Adelaide Blue Eagles, but believes his side will need to ‘mirror’ their past performance if they are any chance of overcoming an experience Blue Eagles outfit.
“It’s going to be a very tough game against Blue Eagles because they are a great football team,” said Jones.
“We just need to try and mirror what we produced in the last two weeks, which we showed some good performances.
“Obviously we’ve repeated some of the patterns at the training sessions, but hopefully we can duplicate the intensity and quality which allowed us to override Adelaide Olympic last week.”
Jones also stated that his side has returned to normality in terms of training, after the busy schedule which was brought upon due to the A-League Grand Final.
“We are back to normal in terms of training but in terms of injuries we have had a couple of extra go down,” Jones said.
“Unfortunately we have a couple of outs this weekend, however we are optimistic as the senior boys have all trained well this week and our depth is relatively good also.
“So at this point we obviously have a few injuries, but it gives an opportunity for someone else to come in and do a job for us.
“Overall, we are ready for the challenge on Saturday and hopefully we can mirror our past performances and get all three points.”
