Adelaide United Announce Departure of Carl Veart at Season’s End

Adelaide United can confirm that Head Coach Carl Veart will depart the Club at the conclusion of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s season.

Veart has played a significant and lasting role in the history of Adelaide United. A proud South Australian, he was a foundational member of our inaugural squad and etched his name in Club history by scoring our first-ever A-League goal. His return to the Club in a coaching capacity saw him continue that legacy — this time from the technical area — where he has served with passion, integrity, and commitment over the past five seasons.

Veart returned to Adelaide United as an Assistant Coach in June 2019 and was appointed interim Head Coach a year later, earning the role permanently after a successful stint. He previously served on the Club’s coaching staff during Aurelio Vidmar’s tenure and held an Assistant Coach role with the Australia U-20 national team, highlighting his strong development credentials.

Veart has been exceptional in nurturing players to an international standard, most notably six young South Australians who were part of the recent AFC U-20 Asian Cup-winning squad in China.

As the longest-serving Head Coach in Adelaide United’s history, Veart has made a meaningful contribution to shaping the Club’s identity. He has strongly supported the development of young South Australian talent, creating opportunities for many local players to represent their state on the national stage, and reinforcing our commitment to being a Club for South Australians, by South Australians.

Adelaide United Club Owner, Cor Adriaanse, said:

“Carl’s legacy at Adelaide United is undeniable. He has led this Club with integrity, resilience, and a deep connection to our community, and for that, we owe him our heartfelt thanks.”

“The Club has exercised a contractual option not to extend his tenure beyond the current campaign,” Adriaanse said.

“Change is never easy, but it is a natural part of growth. This decision has been made as part of a broader long-term strategy — one that Carl has helped shape. We are entering an exciting new chapter, built on the strong foundations he has laid, and we remain fully committed to our identity as a proud South Australian Club.”

“To our fans, we simply say thank you — for your continued support and belief. We know how much this Club means to you, and we’re committed to building on what’s been achieved together,” Adriaanse concluded.

Carl Veart will always be a true Red, and he departs with the utmost respect and gratitude from everyone at Adelaide United.
