Countdown to 2024 Charity Match

Coopers Stadium will host the second annual charity football match between primary industries and state government, raising funds to reduce financial hardship through adverse events for primary producers and small related agribusinesses in South Australia.

The match is a curtain-raiser to the Adelaide United versus Macarthur FC game at Coopers Stadium on Friday, April 12, with kick off at 4.45pm.

Adelaide United has partnered with the South Australian Produce Market (SAPM), Pick a Local, Pick SA!, and Foodland, together with Bank SA and the State Government, including the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia, for the second annual charity match where all funds raised will be collected by the Rural Business Support Relief Fund. The match is expected to raise up to $100k.

Fans heading to the Adelaide United game are urged to attend earlier and help support the cause.

Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, said: “Adelaide United is thrilled to back this cause for a second consecutive year and lend a hand in raising more funds. The club is proud in making meaningful difference where it’s needed most.”

SAPM Chief Executive Officer, Angelo Demasi, joined Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Clare Scriven today at Coopers Stadium to check out the field ahead of the game which will see growers, wholesalers, and retailers play against a team of SA Ministers and parliamentarians from all sides of politics and government representatives.

“As an industry, we wanted to show our support to primary producers affected by and facing hardship,” he said.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, Clare Scriven MLC, said the match was a wonderful way to provide support.

“This really is a wonderful opportunity to come together and raise money for our hardworking and incredibly resilient primary producers,” she said.

Rural Business Support Chief Executive Officer, Brett Smith, said “Proceeds from donations for this match will be used by the RBS Relief Fund to provide household relief to growers and primary producers who are finding life tough. We’re already seeing an increase in enquiry from fruit and vegetable growers near the Salisbury and Riverland fruit fly outbreaks. The generosity of support for this match will enable us to put food on grower’s tables, while they continue to put food on ours”.

The Rural Support Charity Match is supported by; Adelaide United Football Club, Bank SA, Foodland, the Government of South Australia, South Australian Produce Markets, Rural Business Support, 4ways Fresh Produce, Adelaide Venue Management, Agribusiness Recruitmen, AusVeg SA, Bache Bros, Biobin, Costa, K-Roo, Livestock SA Nutirien, Russo Produce, Thomas Foods International, South Australian Forest Products Association, Willoway Farming and Viterra.
