Adelaide United will play host to Campbelltown City in Round 15 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues at The Parks Football Centre on Saturday.
The two worlds of Red will collide, in a roaring clash where both Clubs will want to make amends from their defeats last week.
The Young Reds fell at the hands of league leaders, Adelaide City, who proved why they are at the top with a 6-0 win at Adelaide City Park.
While The Red Devils suffered their fourth loss in a row, which was topped off by Alex Mullen’s hat-trick in Para Hills’ 3-2 triumph.
Adelaide United will be relishing the opportunity to face the defending champions, Campbelltown City for a second time, given their recent improvements.
And there was no shortage of enchantment in the last meeting between the two sides, where Adelaide United could not contain Campbelltown in Round 4, in a crumbling 3-1 loss.
Joe Mullen’s men will have a point to prove, as winger, Lui Ditroia and striker, Tom Strain will be sure to have their input.
Huss Skenderovic said the key for his side will be to work on the mentality on performing their best football for the full 90 minutes, and close out games in order to win.
“We were really hurt by that loss (last week), and it was quite disheartening to go down like that, especially after the first 42 minutes of how we played,” he said.
“When you lose that spirit and concentration, you get punished by teams like Adelaide City.
“We spoke about the mentality of being a winner, and when you are behind, you have to learn to step up and fight, and show respect to yourself and your team.
“It isn’t anything tactical, it is more getting their mindset right, especially in the second half of games.”
On facing Campbelltown City, Skenderovic said Campbelltown will be out for the three points, so his side need to play for 90 minutes and take their chances on goal.
“Campbelltown have five matches without a win now, on the trot and they will be feeling the pressure, as they are mid-table.
“But for us, every game is a challenge because of our youth, and the main goal would be to get 90 minutes of that football we have seen glimpses of.
“We know we can do it, it is just a matter of whether or not they can execute it against their opponent.
“We will keep working towards it, and training is fantastic, and when we have the ball we are really good with it.
“And also, we do create many chances, and if we execute those, we can win games.”
The Young Reds take on Campbelltown City at The Parks Football Centre on Saturday, 17 June. Kick-off is 3pm, Reserves kick-off at 1pm. Entry: Adults $10, Concession $5 16 & under free.
