An open letter from Isaías Sánchez

Dear Adelaide United supporters,

I wanted to write to you all to explain the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my life and in my professional football career.

I do not want people to get my words confused or take them the wrong way, which is why writing this is what I think is best right now.

I have decided the time is right for me to take this opportunity. It is a decision that I have given a lot of thought to and one that I feel is right for my young family as well. Given my age and the stage of life that my wife and I are at with our two young children, this decision will help us in the future in many ways as my career gets closer to its end. It is something we have decided as a family and because we believe it is best for our future.

I have been very open with the Chairman, Piet van der Pol, throughout this time and he has been very understanding of the decision I have made. I know this is not something the Club wanted, but their consideration of what is best for my family and I has been amazing.

The opportunity Adelaide United has given me since I joined the Club in 2013 has shaped my life in so many amazing ways – the most beautiful being that both my children were born in Adelaide and we are proud to now be Australian citizens. I also had most of the best memories of my career here, as an Adelaide United player. I will never forget how many fantastic moments we have had together!

I will always be an Adelaide United fan and will always have a special place in my heart for this Club.
