Adelaide United is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Pezos as Head Coach of the Adelaide United Youth Team ahead of the Foxtel National Youth League 2017/18 season.

Pezos will also take charge of the Youth team which will compete in the local PlayStation 4 National Premier League (NPL) in 2018.

Pezos was recently the Head Coach of the Reds’ NPL Reserves side where he experienced great success, guiding the team to both the minor premiership and then Championship this year.

The former defender accumulated more than 400 club appearances in his playing career, most notably with West Adelaide, Adelaide City and Perth Glory.

Some of Pezos’ other coaching credentials include leading West Adelaide to a Premiership and Championship double in 2015.

He also won the Cup and Women’s National Premier League Grand Final with Adelaide City Women in 2017.

Pezos was delighted with his new role at the Club, saying: “It’s an honor to coach at Adelaide United and I look forward to working and developing these talented players, some of which I have previously coached.

“We will set high expectations to achieve great results and implement a winning mentality, with the objective to promote players into the Hyundai A-League team.

“To get to A-League level, you have to instil discipline and a good work ethic, which we will do from the outset.”

Speaking on Pezos’ new role, Adelaide United General Manager of Football, Ante Kovacevic, said: “Paul is a very successful coach in South Australia that has proven his abilities working with youth and experienced players at the NPL level.

“He won the NPL Reserves competition this season, as well as winning the NPL with West Adelaide in 2015.

“Paul understands the expectations within our Club and will continue to implement the same football principles as our senior Hyundai A-League team that will benefit our next generation of players.”
