Adelaide United can today announce the sale of defender, Alexandar Popović, as he takes on a new challenge at K League 1 side Gwangju FC.
Popović joined the Reds in 2021, making a total of 45 appearances during his three years with the Club.
Popović shared his sentiments on the move by saying: “I am grateful for the opportunities and support I’ve received while at Adelaide United.
“The decision to move to the K League 1 wasn’t easy, but I believe it’s the right step for my growth as a player.
“I’ve loved my time at the Club and will cherish all the memories I’ve created with the amazing fans and my teammates.
“United gave me an opportunity to play football professionally and without this, I would not have development into the player and person I am today.”
Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “We wish to thank Alexandar for his contribution to the Club, as he has been a massive figure both on and off the pitch.
“Alexandar’s departure is a testament to the talent we nurture at Adelaide United, and we are proud to have played a role in his development as he takes on an international challenge.
“We wish Alexandar all the best and our door will always be open should he wish to return to Australia”.
The Club is currently undertaking an extensive scouting process for a suitable addition.
