Adelaide United is excited to announce promising defender Harry Van der Saag has signed a two-year contract with the Club.
22-year-old Van der Saag joins the Reds until the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2023/24 season after spending the past three campaigns with Sydney FC predominantly as a right-back.
In 45 matches across all competitions with the Sky Blues, Van der Saag scored two goals and won a Premiership and Championship double in 2020.
Speaking on his decision to join Adelaide, Van der Saag, said: “Adelaide United has always been a Club that gives young players opportunities and once I realised their interest in me, I really wanted to move and try a new challenge.
“The project that Carl Veart and the Club have been building is an exciting one and they’ve managed to be extremely competitive over the last couple of seasons, while giving young players first-team chances.
“For me, I hope I can continue to develop and play as much as I can, and from a team perspective hopefully we can win some silverware.
“I’m coming to Adelaide hungry for success and cannot wait to join my teammates and begin pre-season.”
Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “Harry has been on our radar for some time now and we’re delighted to have finally been successful in bringing him over to the Club.
“Harry is a player with a lot of potential and one we feel can take his game to another level here at Adelaide because the environment we have established at the Club is one that enables young players every opportunity to flourish.
“We’re confident Harry will be another strong addition to the squad and we look forward to welcoming him to Adelaide.”
