Adelaide United FC is delighted to unveil a new major partnership with Datong Australia, a multi-national Chinese developer.
The partnership will see Datong become the Reds- ‘sleeve- sponsor for the next two seasons. Datong is proud to affiliate itself with Adelaide United in supporting the South Australian community and encouraging young people to get involved in football.
With the World Cup currently taking place, we are reminded that football truly is the World Game. Asia makes up a big proportion of viewership and supporter base including audiences for the A-League and the Asian Champions League.
Adelaide United have already made an impact in the Northern Territory and are now looking to expand opportunities for the Club to be embraced by the Asian community. With a population of 1.35 billion in China alone, the opportunity to build a following for the Reds in Asia is enormous.
Adelaide has a big population of international students from Asia, especially China, who are followers of the World Game. There is also a solid business, trade, investment and tourism link between the two countries. Datong sets the example that Adelaide United is not just for local supporters but a wider population also.
Adelaide United Club Chairman, Greg Griffin welcomed Datong-s enthusiasm and commitment as a major partner.
“We are delighted to be the first Australian football club in a major national sporting competition to secure a major Chinese company as a significant sponsor,” said Griffin.
“Datong is a major developer in China and has already built prestigious apartments and commercial buildings in Adelaide.
“We are excited about this relationship as one that will not only build the Datong brand in Australia, but will provide the platform for Adelaide United to play games in China.
“With the support of Datong, it will only further enhance our own strong profile in Asia.”
From the Chinese province of Yunnan, Datong-s chairman Jin Liang has been responsible for the development of more than 14 projects in China. These range from small community projects up to the 6 Billion Chinese Yuan project in Zhaotong covering over 1200 hectares. Datong brings hugely valuable international development experience to Adelaide and Australia.
With a vision to lead the development and rejuvenation of the Adelaide CBD, Datong-s strategy is to become a highly sought after developer for creating high quality, sustainable and ecological urban solutions that Australians want to call home.
Datong’s current Adelaide projects include the ‘96 Aria apartments’ at the Parkland end of Gouger Street and a 287 apartments tower standing 23 stories high on Waymouth Street known as ‘U2’.
“Through our support of Adelaide United, Datong will play a major and important role in growing the game across the entire State whilst being involved with the local community” Datong-s Chairman, Jin Liang said.
“As a major player within China, and now Adelaide, this land-mark partnership further complements the ongoing financial and commitment Datong has to offer.
“We want to put Adelaide United at the forefront, and with the support we can provide, we hope to achieve this.”
With the upcoming Asian Cup it is evident that the relationship between Australia and its neighbours is growing exponentially, Adelaide United and Datong partnering from the front, setting the example for other Chinese companies to invest in South Australia. The partnership provides opportunities to further strengthen business ties between the two countries and both Datong and Adelaide United are excited about the future.
