Carl Veart spoke to the media ahead of Adelaide United’s trip to Perth Glory, addressing his future for the first time since it was confirmed he will depart the Club at the end of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season.
Despite the emotion around the announcement, Veart reaffirmed his sole focus is on leading the Reds to Finals Football. With four games remaining in the regular season, the Reds sit just outside the top six on goal difference, and know every point is vital heading into the run home.
Veart on his emotions following the announcement…
“Yeah, look, I’m okay. It happens in football. Yes, I’m disappointed. I love this club, and I’ve always tried to do my best by it. But we’ve still got four games to go, and that’s all my focus is now—to get us into the finals and hopefully have a good run.”
Veart on the squad’s response and form heading into Perth…
“Last week’s performance was a very good one. Yes, we made a few costly errors, but I thought we looked much more like ourselves—like the team we were at the beginning of the season. The focus now is to go to Perth, put in a really strong performance, and get the three points.”
Veart on what’s next for the team heading into Perth…
“It’s been a bit disruptive this week, sure, but we’re professionals. We have a job to do, and we’re still right in the mix. We’re outside the six only on goal difference. If we win these last four games, we make finals—and I truly believe we’ve got what it takes to do something special once we’re there.”
Veart on what he’s most proud of…
“Providing a platform for young South Australian players—that’s what I’m most proud of. We’ve had great support from the fans, and it’s been really humbling to receive so many messages over the past 24 hours. I’ve always done my best for this club, and I hope that continues into the future, no matter who is in charge.
Veart on what silverware would mean…
“When you reflect on your career, the best memories are the ones where you’ve won something with your teammates. That’s what I want for this group—they’re tight, they care about each other, and they deserve that chance.”
Veart on goalkeeper Max Vartuli’s debut and ongoing selection…
“Max did exceptionally well last week—made some important saves and looked confident. It wasn’t just a one-off. He’ll keep his place, and he’ll only grow from the experience.”
