Carl Veart admits he was delighted with Adelaide United’s resilience and intent in their 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.
The Reds bounced back from the Perth Glory loss, to record a third clean sheet in four matches to begin the A-League 2020/21 season.
They now sit in second spot on the table with seven points.
Mohamed Toure scored on his starting debut for the Club with a scintillating finish in the second-half.
Veart was especially pleased with United’s early aggression to set the tone.
“The performance in Perth wasn’t what the players were happy with and not just the coaching staff,” Veart told reporters in the post-match press conference.
“And tonight they responded magnificently, their commitment and the fight they showed tonight – that’s what we expect.”

Toure was sensational in his maiden start and got himself on the scoresheet for the second successive game.
Veart lauded the 16-year-old’s display.
“You don’t coach Mohamed you just let him go out and do what he does,” he said.
“He was sensational tonight and really he should’ve had a couple more goals.
“I thought him and Tomi (Juric) were excellent for us tonight, they provided that focal point for us up front and allowed us to play a little bit more direct than what we normally would.
“But when you’ve got two strikers like that I think we showed tonight that they will cause a lot of trouble.”
Spanish defender Javi López was impressive on his first Reds appearance after being introduced at half-time for Ryan Strain.
Veart praised the ex-Espanyol captain’s experience and calmness on the ball, and assisted Toure’s goal.
“He was very good, very calm,” Veart said.
“He provided that calmness for us and slowed things down when the ball came out to him and he did very well.
“I’m very impressed with his first 45 minutes and I think he enjoyed it tonight as well – the atmosphere here was excellent.”
