Adelaide United once again spent time giving back in the community during April.
Here is a recap of what we got up to over the past month.
One Culture Futsal 5’s Tournament
One Culture Football held its Futsal 5’s Tournament at Blair Athol Recreation Reserve on Thursday, 22 April in a celebration of multiculturalism and bringing all communities together.
There was lots of great football and skills on display, while a lot of goals were scored. Reds players Kusini Yengi, Al Hassan Toure, Mohamed Toure, Pacifique Niyongabire, and Yaya Dukuly were all in attendance, providing encouragement, signed autographs and were photographed with the winning teams. The next tournament will be in October.
Rundle Mall jersey launch
On Wednesday, 14 April we unveiled our special one-off playing kit which was worn later that night against Macarthur FC. The jersey paid homage to South Australia’s iconic Mall’s Balls which also aligned with the 45th anniversary of Rundle Mall’s transformation as a pedestrian mall.

A limited number of the jerseys were sold next to the famous Mall’s Balls with some of our Reds players there in attendance greeting fans. Kusini Yengi, Louis D’Arrigo, Mohamed Toure and Noah Smith all signed autographs, posed for photos as well as signed some of the jerseys that were purchased by supporters.
United Clubs Program
Those that signed up to the United Clubs Program received free tickets to the game against Macarthur. They were not disappointed with Adelaide prevailing 3-1 against the Bulls in its Mall’s Balls inspired jersey. Some of the children from those clubs on the night, also got to be involved in the half-time games and be ball kids.
The United Clubs Program serves to better connect Adelaide United with the South Australian football community in order to not only foster a love for the game, but to establish the Reds as truly a club for all South Australians. To get involved all you have to do is simply register to be a part of the United Clubs Program. The benefits include free tickets to A-League or Westfield W-League matches, the chance for player visits and matchday experiences in addition to exclusive club offers and prizes throughout the season.
Adelaide United School Holiday Clinics
During the Term 1 school holidays our football clinics, run by Reds legend Marcelo Carrusca, returned. The clinics were again held across three locations and each went for three days. The locations included: Elizabeth in the north, Underdale High School in the west and Flinders University in the south. More than 120 registrants attended the clinics as they were taught basic techniques and new skills by the Argentine midfielder and his team of coaches. Registrants also received a full Adelaide United UCAN training kit. The football clinics will be back for the Term 2 holidays, so keep an eye out for information on that in the coming weeks.
Club visits/Miniroos sessions
Munno Para City
Craig Goodwin and Pacifique Niyongabire visited local club Munno Para City and joined in the session while providing some tips. The pair signed autographs and the young footballers got to ask questions and have their photos taken with their Reds heroes.
Adelaide Atletico
Ryan Strain and Louis D’Arrigo caught up with former Red Marcos Flores and his newly found club, Adelaide Atletico.
The club was established last year and is located at Charles Campbell College. Strain and D’Arrigo took part in some of the drills, and distributed signed miniature Think! Road Safety footballs.
West Adelaide
James Delianov and Josh Cavallo both attended a Miniroos session at West Adelaide as the duo interacted with the footballers during training. Both James and Josh and each answered questions and discussed some of the things it takes to become a professional, stopped for photos and signed autographs.
Sporting Schools
The Sporting Schools program is a government initiative that is designed to help primary and secondary schools increase participation in physical education.
Adelaide United is the official Sporting Schools provider of football programs in South Australia, and our team of community coaches run participation-based programs focused on developing fundamental skills through game-based activities.
