Adelaide United can confirm Michael Jakobsen will depart the Club following the conclusion of his contract.
Jakobsen, 36, joined Adelaide ahead of the 2018/19 season and went on to accumulate 95 appearances over four years across all competitions.
A model of consistency in defence, the Danish centre-back also served as Captain in his second season and won two Australia Cups in 2018 and 2019.
Speaking on his departure, Jakobsen said: “While it is sad to be leaving, I’m incredibly grateful for my time at Adelaide United.
“I have a lot of great memories, but winning back-to-back cups and captaining the team definitely stand out the most.
“South Australia has become home for my family and I, and the Club will always hold a special place in our hearts.
“I also want to mention our amazing fans who, from the moment I stepped out onto the park for the debut, welcomed me and supported the team through everything.
“I wish everyone at Adelaide United the best for the future and will continue to follow the team closely.
“Now I’ll move onto my next challenge and see where my career takes me.”
Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “Michael has been an integral player since he’s been at the Club and especially during my time here.
“His leadership qualities have been an outstanding benefit to our culture and he’s really helped our young defenders hone their craft.
“I’d like to thank Michael for his professionalism on the pitch and wish him well in the next stage of his career.”
Adelaide United thanks Michael for his commitment and passion in a Reds shirt and wish him and his family the best for their future.
