Adelaide United is delighted to announce Bernardo has signed a new two-year extension to his current deal, taking him through until 30 June 2025.
The 18-year-old’s incumbent contract was set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season but has committed his future to the Club by an additional two years.
In his first full season with the Reds, Bernardo scored three goals and registered two assists in 26 appearances and was a joint winner of the Club’s Rising Star award.
Speaking about agreeing to extend his deal, Bernardo said: “It’s great to know my future remains at Adelaide United, playing in front of the wonderful Reds fans, my family, and friends.
“Last season was my first taste of professional football and I hope I can build on my performances and keep improving because this is the perfect environment for me to do that.
“It was disappointing to come so close to a Grand Final, but I’m confident with the squad that we have we’ll be again competing for silverware.”
Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “Bernardo is a player with loads of potential.
“He’s obviously still very young but you can definitely see his ability and why we value him so highly.
“Like with all young players, they just need opportunities and regular game time to succeed and play with more consistency.
“I believe we saw that with Bernardo last season and over the next two seasons he will have every opportunity to continue flourishing.
“Bernardo works extremely hard in training and if he maintains the disciplined mindset that he already possesses he will enjoy a fantastic career.”
