Adelaide United is pleased to announce the re-signing of goalkeeper, James Delianov, on a two-year contract until the end of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2023/24 season.
The 22-year-old’s last campaign was truncated after a shoulder injury sustained on New Year’s Day sidelined the gloveman for more than four months.
Delianov managed eight games in all competitions having begun the season as the number one, before suffering the injury in a collision against Wellington Phoenix.
Delianov, who has accumulated 26 matches and seven clean sheets for the Reds since joining in 2020, said: “I’m delighted to be staying at Adelaide United for another two seasons.
“Last season was a frustrating one for me because of the injury, but I’m fully fit now and looking forward to challenging for the number one spot again.
“We have an amazing crop of goalkeepers at the Club who push each other to improve each day and I’m excited to know I’ll continue being part of that.
“I also consider myself fortunate to be working so closely with someone of Eugene (Galekovic)’s experience and knowledge.
“The way he’s able to guide us and improve our ‘keeping is brilliant, so I can’t wait for pre-season to start and be back amongst it.”
Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “James is a very talented goalkeeper and I think because of his quality and the quality of our other goalkeepers, people forget just how young they all are.
“It was obviously difficult for James last season because of his shoulder injury, but he’s done all the hard work during his recovery and is back at his best.
“We are very lucky we have a group of talented goalkeepers on our books that really elevate the standard in training and it makes Eugene’s and my job extremely difficult come selection time.
“But these are the headaches you want as coaches and we’re delighted to have retained James for a further two seasons.”
