After spending the majority of his professional career in Germany, Karim Matmour touches down in Adelaide for the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season, having played more than 270 matches across the German Bundesliga’s first and second division. The 32-year-old is a French-born Algerian international and is an attacking midfielder, capable of also being deployed anywhere in a front three. He has a relatively high assists-to-games ratio throughout his time in Europe, particularly with the likes of SC Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Internationally, the dynamic attacker has received 30 caps for Algeria and featured at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup. In the second half of the 2015/16, Matmour signed for then English Championship outfit Huddersfield Town, before returning to Germany with 1860 Munich.
