Guillermo Amor and Bruce Djite believe that the determination to focus game-by-game has been the key to the Reds’ remarkable renaissance, and with Brisbane Roar their next opponents, their mindset has not changed.
With Adelaide United set to face Brisbane Roar for Saturday’s clash, the Reds will be hungry to take the Club’s unbeaten record this season to 13 matches, continuing to go by their game-by-game philosophy.
This philosophy has taken United into third on the Hyundai A-League table, and currently only two points below their Round 21 opponents.
Heading into the match, Reds Head Coach, Guillermo Amor, says that his players need to continue to be solely focused on the game ahead, insisting that his players are treating the match as a final.
“The plan for tomorrow is to win the match, and keeping possession is really important for us,” Amor said.
“Brisbane like to keep the ball as well and are very similar to us. They like to play good football and they want the ball, our positions on the table are also very close.
“But we are playing at home, and our players are in good condition and have been working hard all week.
“With seven games left (in the season), this is a very important moment and tomorrow’s game is like a final for us.”
Striker, Bruce Djite, agreed with his Head Coach, firmly believing that focussing on matches individually is far more beneficial for the Reds, and with the Roar looking to bring a tough defensive set-up, Untied will be continuing to do the same as they have been throughout their unbeaten run.
“Brisbane are definitely going to be working hard defensively after conceding six goals last week against Perth,” Djite said. “We will certainly have to be on our game to get all three points.
“Brisbane have been a fantastic team over the last few years, and no doubt we will be bringing our best tomorrow.
“To get where we are today, it has been by us focussing game-by-game and we are going to continue doing the same as we haven’t been discussing positions (on the table).
“We recognise we are in a good position, but to stay in this position, or better it, we need to stick to what we are doing and that is focusing on each game.
“The game is going to come down to who takes their chances. We have been doing relatively well recently, defending strong and attacking with a killer instinct.
“It will be an interesting clash tomorrow with two very good sides fighting for a win.”
Adelaide United will face Brisbane Roar in Round 21 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season on Saturday, 27 February at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.45pm ACDT.
