Adelaide United is delighted to announce local South Australian defender, Jordan Elsey, has agreed a one-year contract extension.
Elsey, who has made 25 first-team appearances for the Reds since the 2013/14 season, has had a stellar return to football following a lengthy injury lay-off that hindered his 2014/15 campaign.
A product of Adelaide United’s Youth Team, Elsey has made 13 appearances in the Hyundai A-League this season, as well as playing in the Club’s AFC Champions League Play-Off match in early February.
Speaking on the contract extension that will keep Elsey at the Club until the end of the 2016/17 season, the 21-year-old defender said
“I feel playing here at Adelaide United is the best for my development and I’m really excited to have signed an extension to my deal,” he explained.
“I want to have a big season next season and being and Adelaide boy, I’m happy to keep playing for the club that I love.
“After having a good season so far, I want to continue that and then establish myself as a more senior player in our squad.
“The Club has shown a lot of faith in me, after re-signing me while I was still injured last season, and I’m here to repay that and show the type of player I am.”
Elsey’s Head Coach, Guillermo Amor, praised his defender’s desire to continuously improve and hailed his work-rate on and off the field in ensuring he gives his all for his teammates.
“Jordan is a very good player and a very strong defender,” Amor said. “His reading of the game is good and he is very mature for his age, for in his position he needs to be.
“We are very happy to have re-signed Jordan for one more year and hope he can continue to grow as a footballer in our team.
“Being from South Australia, he is a very good example to many young footballers and I am sure he will finish this season of well and play an important part in our next season.”
