Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, spoke to media at Coopers Stadium on Friday morning, ahead of the Reds’ match against Brisbane Roar.
Whilst attention has switched to the game against the Roar following last week’s 3-3 draw with Melbourne City, discussion returned to the health of Juande and George Blackwood.
Moving forward:
“It was a very difficult day (last Sunday) and I suppose the next 24 hours after that, it was quite difficult (too).
“But I’ve spoken to Juande and the playing group.
“Juande is such a positive guy and the influence he has on the playing group… they know they have a job to do and have been focused on that for the back end of the week.”
Added incentive for the boys?:
“I suppose (so).
“And that could go good or go negatively.
“(The players) could put too much pressure on themselves to do that.
“It’s important that we focus as a team on what we need to do to win against Brisbane because Brisbane is a good side – they’ve got one of the best defensive records in the league.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game for us and it’s important that we have good focus on what we need to do in the game to get the three points.”
Blackwood injury update:
“George is unfortunate.
“He’s had a fracture through his knee, so it’s not great.
“George has been very good for us this year, he’s got some important goals for us off the bench.
“He started the game (against Melbourne City) because he’s been so good for us this year… and scored early.
“It’s unfortunate for George, but he’ll bounce back from this and hopefully we can get him back before the end of the season.”
