Adelaide United has defeated Brisbane Roar 2-1 at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.
Nestory Irankunda’s 82nd minute rocket saw-off a stubborn Brisbane outfit, after Louis D’Arrigo initially put the Reds in front in the 34th minute.
In front of over 10,000 fans, the win puts United in third on the Isuzu UTE A-League ladder.
On 25 minutes Roar had a chance, but the tap in was cleared off the line by a lunging Javi López.
Brisbane threatened, but the Reds found the opening goal through Louis D’Arrigo’s double-deflected effort.
The Reds’ midfielder unleashed 25 metres from goal; the ball slamming off Kai Trewin and into the legs of Aldred. The double deflection twice changed the trajectory of the shot, completely wrong-footing Roar keeper before nestling into the bottom corner.
Brisbane found an equaliser shortly after, however the introduction of Irankunda by Carl Veart and his coaching team was the ultimate game-changer.
