Adelaide United forward, Nestory Irankunda, says the way in which he is embraced by the Reds’ faithful supporters is what helps motivate him when he takes to the field.
His eye-catching performances and mouth-watering goals are becoming expected, rather than surprising, but at just 17-years-old, Irankunda is taking the A-Leagues by storm this 2022/23 season.
Scoring his third goal of the seasons at Coopers Stadium on Friday night in United’s 4-2 win over league-leaders, Melbourne City, Irankunda was left relatively speechless when asked to describe his emotions post-game.
Irankunda said:
“I’m happy as hell.
“To get a goal at home, again, with my weak foot this time.
“You could call it a ‘tap in’, but I’m just happy to score again.
“I don’t know why it goes in the top corner – I tired to place it.
“But it just goes there… I’m just happy, I don’t know what to say.
“I go to warm up and they (fans) scream my name – it gives me the motivation to go and score a goal and put on my best performances.
“I just love them all so much.”
