Adelaide United forward, Luka Jovanović, says he was delighted to score his first professional goal on Saturday night, as the Reds downed Newcastle Jets 4-2.
Jovanović popped-up in the 44th minute of his starting debut to put the Reds 3-1 up with a composed finish, following some neat build-up play which saw Captain, Craig Goodwin, put the ball on a platter for the 17-year-old.
But with plenty of work still to do, Jovanović, with composure beyond his years, slotted the ball into the back of the net in what was an assured, all-round performance from the youngster.
Speaking post-game to Paramount+, Jovanonić gave his thoughts on his performance overall.
Jovanović said:
“It feels good, all the boys got around me.
“It was my dream to score my first professional goal, so I’m very happy.
“As soon as (Goodwin) gets the ball, with his technique, I just get into the box and expect a delivery like that from him.
“I’m confident, 100 per cent.
“I just have to make sure I get fitter and everything else will come with that.”
