Reds resume pre-season preparation

Following a short break, Adelaide United’s pre-season is back underway following the squad’s 6-1 victory over Darwin Olympic, Marcelo Carrusca shed light on the Reds recent win and also their preparations ahead of season 2015/16.

With the 2015/16 Hyundai A-League season getting underway at the beginning of October, Reds creative midfielder, Marcelo Carrusca, says he and his teammates are focussed on steadily improving so they are as ready as possible when their new campaign kicks off.

And so far, Adelaide United looks to be in fine form, especially after their 6-1 triumph over Darwin Olympic in the round of 32 of this season’s Westfield FFA Cup, seeing Adelaide progress to face fellow A-League side, Sydney FC, in the round of 16.

However, Carrusca remains unfazed by the task of coming up against A-League opposition in comparison to a National Premier League club, believing champions will beat whomever they have to to remain champions.

“We’re going to play against an A-League team again and for us it is a good challenge (to play Sydney FC),” Carrusca said.

“Every game is different and they have new players so it is going to be a different game.

“We’re not worried about anyone because we know this is a tough competition and every team differs.

Maybe some of the teams that are not from the A-League are hungrier and they want to win against the A-League teams, so they are going to put in extra effort.

“It doesn’t matter (who you face). If you want to be champions you have to win every game regardless, so this is what we have (to do).

Looking ahead to the Hyundai A-League season, Carrusca says the team is desperate to get started, stating the entire squad is working tirelessly in their pursuit of the illusive domestic championship.

“Everyone is working hard this pre-season and to start to win,” Carrusca explained.

“My goal is the same as the group and that is to win the A-League title. After that, personally, I want to play as many games as I can and help the team (as much as possible).

“Every game that we play, it doesn’t matter if it’s for the league or a friendly, we want to win, so we prepare for every game the same way. This will not change.”
