Adelaide United is pleased to announce former captain Stefan Mauk has returned to the Club on a long-term deal that will see him in Red until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Mauk grew up in Adelaide and was part of the Reds side that won the 2015/16 A-League Premiership and 2016 A-League Championship.
Across two previous stints at the Club, he scored 13 goals in 63 appearances.
Ahead of the 2020/21 season, Mauk was appointed Captain of the club, becoming the youngest Reds player to wear the armband at age 25.
A box-to-box midfielder, the 28-year-old most recently played for Fagiano Okayama in Japan’s second division.
Mauk returned to Adelaide late last year for the birth of his first child and has been training with the squad to keep fit and hopes his addition will be the catalyst for success, as it was in 2015/16.
On his return, Mauk said: “Adelaide has always held a special place in my heart, and I am genuinely excited to be back.”
“Returning to Adelaide United feels like coming home — the camaraderie among the players is truly special.”
“The support from the fans has been incredible, and I am eager to contribute to the success of the Club.”
Adelaide Untied Head Coach, Carl Veart, was excited to welcome Mauk and his family back to his hometown club.
“It’s great to have Stefan back at the club,” Veart said.
He’s an experienced and talented player who will bring a lot of leadership and quality to our side.
“He is a great addition both from an on-field and off-field perspective, and as well as bolstering our midfield options, he will give us a new avenue in attack.”
Pending an International Transfer Clearance, Stefan Mauk will be added to the extended squad with Ethan Alagich being omitted.
