“The Group Is Very Confident” – Veart Ahead of Sydney Clash

Adelaide United Head Coach Carl Veart believes his squad is ready to extend their unbeaten run and cement the club’s best ever start to an A-League season. With growing confidence after a dominant win last week, Veart highlighted the team’s strong form and the challenge posed by Sydney FC in their upcoming match.

Veart on the team’s confidence…
“The group is very confident. We put in a good performance last week. The performances have been improving every week, and we’ll be looking for some more improvement in the game against Sydney tomorrow.”

Veart on taking chances against Central Coast…
“It was pleasing to take our chances. In a lot of the games so far, we’ve created some good opportunities, but we just haven’t had the final touch or the final quality to finish those games off. Last week, the first 25 minutes in the second half was the level we need to be at if we want to achieve something this year.”

Veart on the goalscoring record…
“I think that’s been a key thing during my time at the club. We are quite an attacking team and want to score goals. Yes, at times we can be a little bit open and concede a few too many goals, but we’ve worked on that this year, and that showed dividends again last week with a clean sheet.”

Veart on squad depth and competition…
“It’s good for the playing group to have that competition and to have players that, when they come in, do their job. It builds more quality in the squad and challenges everyone to play at a higher level. We want players pushing each other so we can have more rotation and depth.”

Veart on attacking depth this season…
“We seem to always manage to do okay, even when we’ve lost some of our key attacking players. Every year, people ask where the goals will come from, but we still find a way. It’s key to the players understanding the way we want to play, and we’re always working on that.”

Veart on the challenge against Sydney…
“Sydney will be one of the few teams in the league that really play a high pressing game. A lot of teams we’ve played so far have sat off a little bit, so this will be a different challenge for us tomorrow. It’s going to be an exciting game, and hopefully, we can carry on the form we’ve shown so far this season.”

Veart on their style of the game…
“Sydney is very aggressive with their pressing and very good in transition. We don’t want it to be a transition game; we want to have control of the ball. It’s going to be a great challenge for the playing group, and I’m excited to see how we adapt to it.”

Veart on Douglas Costa’s impact…
“He’s been very impressive. You can see the quality. It’s exciting for the fans to see a player who’s played at such a high level, and he’s still got that quality. He’s done very well so far in the league.”

Veart on Jay Barnett’s fitness…
“He trained all this week and is fine to go this weekend. After the Newcastle game, we weren’t taking any risks with Jay last week, but he’s ticked all the boxes needed this week.”
