Adelaide United wishes to acknowledge and thank Nanako Sasaki for her outstanding contribution to the Club following the mutual termination of her contract.
Since joining the Reds in 2021, Sasaki has been a consistent and influential presence in midfield, amassing 67 appearances and four goals in the A-League Women’s competition. Her impact was recognised when she was named the 2023/24 Dianne Alagich Medalist as Adelaide United’s best and fairest player.
Before signing with United, Sasaki had already cemented herself as one of South Australia’s premier footballers, arriving from Japan in 2017 and excelling in the Women’s National Premier League SA (WNPLSA). She starred for both Adelaide City and Adelaide Comets, collecting multiple honours, including three selections to the WNPL Team of the Year.
Sasaki spoke fondly of her time in Red:
“My time at this Club has been truly special. I’m deeply grateful for the support shown by all the fans each week. I’ll always cherish my time here as I move onto my next chapter.”
Adelaide United Head of Football, Marius Zanin, praised Sasaki’s legacy:
“Nanako has left a lasting mark on Adelaide United, both on and off the pitch. Nanako’s consistency, professionalism and midfield quality have been pivotal to our success.
We thank Nano for her dedication to our Club and wish her the very best for the next chapter of her career.”
Adelaide United extends its gratitude to Sasaki for her service to the Club and her role in growing the Women’s game in South Australia.
