Adelaide United proud to celebrate Pride Cup at Coopers Stadium

Adelaide United is proud to take part in the fourth Pride Cup Match, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and ensuring football remains a welcoming space for everyone.

Grounded in education, the Pride Cup Match will be held during the Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory double-header on Saturday 17 January at Coopers Stadium.

Adelaide United CEO Nathan Kosmina said the Pride Cup Match is an important opportunity to recognise the strength of the Club’s community and continue building an environment where all supporters feel they belong.

“Adelaide United is for everyone, and the Pride Cup Match is a meaningful chance to celebrate that and recognise the strength of football’s inclusivity,” Kosmina said. “We want every player, member, and supporter to feel safe, respected, and welcome at Coopers Stadium – on this matchday and every matchday.”

The 2026 Pride Cup Match Celebration again builds on the success of recent seasons, where the A-Leagues became the first league in the world to host simultaneous men’s and women’s Pride Celebrations.

Pride Cup CEO Hayley Conway, said: “The Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory Pride Cup is one of the world’s only pride derbies. It is a celebration of the players, supporters, officials, and staff who are LGBTIQ+ and the inclusive environment created by allies. While LGBTIQ+ communities face an increasingly hostile world, Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory are showing that football is for everyone.”

Over the last four-and-a-half years, the PFA’s partner Pride Cup has developed and delivered a series of training programs for players, staff, executives and partners. In 2026, Pride Cup will once again provide LGBTIQ+ inclusion training to all players and key stakeholders. The training content will focus on the challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ supporters and players, and how clubs can support inclusion for everyone regardless of faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender.
