Tsiounis Previews Western Sydney Clash As Dawber Nears 100-Game Milestone

Adelaide United Ninja A-League Coach Theo Tsiounis has praised Chelsie Dawber’s impact ahead of her 100th appearance for the Club, while outlining the Reds’ focus on recovery, consistency and execution as they prepare for a tough away challenge against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Tsiounis on Chelsie Dawber’s expected 100th appearance milestone…
“It’s always special when a player reaches a milestone like this, and we’re incredibly proud of Chelsie bringing up 100 appearances for Adelaide United.

“She’s worn the red shirt with pride for 99 games already and has been a hugely important part of our club, on and off the pitch.

“Congratulations Chelsie, and the Dawber family – a wonderful achievement.”

Tsiounis on the 24-hour reschedule and its impact on preparation…
“I think this situation has helped both teams recover from some tough scheduling recently. We have had an opportunity to freshen up and prepare well for the upcoming game.”

Tsiounis on managing the group through travel and a condensed schedule…
“The group have done well in looking after themselves between games and sessions. Training has also been shorter in duration, with good intensity and a clear focus on what we need for the next match.”

Tsiounis on the challenge Western Sydney present…
“Western Sydney are a good side and well coached. Early in the season they were playing some very good football but were not getting the rewards they deserved. Recently they have made some changes to their structure and have picked up some strong results. It will be a tough game.”

Tsiounis on maintaining consistency, particularly away from home…
“Consistency and quality in key moments are very important. We focus on the details that underpin our principles. If we can execute those well, we will be competitive in any game.”

Tsiounis on the message to the group entering the business end of the season…
“We’ve spoken recently about where we’re at and the opportunities in front of us. We always emphasise that every player plays a role and that the season is a journey.

“We’re in a good place with a healthy squad and plenty of quality. With matchday spots naturally limited, there will be times when not everyone can be involved, but the most important thing is that the whole group stays ready.

“If we keep bringing strong energy to training, the standards stay high and everyone puts themselves in the best position to contribute when their moment comes.”
