Adelaide United legends, local football personalities, and members of the South Australian football community came together on Sunday for a special charity match in support of the Childhood Cancer Association.
Held at Modbury Jets Soccer Club, Playing for Ross, was organised by media personality, RAA NPLSA commentator, and creator of The Local Game, Johnny Keko.
The match honoured Johnny’s brother, Ross, who sadly passed away from childhood cancer at just five years of age.
What began with an initial fundraising target of $10,000 quickly grew into something much bigger, with the football community helping raise an incredible $20,148 – more than double the original goal.

The day saw The Local Game take on the SAASL Podcast in a celebration of football, community, and connection.
Adelaide United was proudly represented throughout the event, with former players and current coaches IsaÃas and Javi López taking part, while Head of Junior Development Marcelo Carrusca captained the SAASL side.

Several other former Reds also featured on the day, including Travis Dodd, Marcos Flores, Daniel Mullen, Fabian Barbiero, Iain Fyfe and Chad Bugeja, joining a long list of local football figures who lent their support to the cause. Adelaide United MC, Jarrod Walsh, also made an appearance.
More than just a match, the event reflected the best of South Australian football with people coming together, giving back, and supporting one another through the game they love.
Adelaide United is proud to have contributed to a day that celebrated the beautiful culture within SA football, while helping raise vital funds for children and families supported by the Childhood Cancer Association.
Donations remain open for anyone wishing to support the cause:
