Adelaide United can confirm Assistant Coach Maruschka Waldus has departed the Club following the conclusion of her contract.
Waldus became the Reds’ first-ever full-time Women’s Assistant Coach in September 2025, returning to the Club where she made 49 appearances and scored three goals between 2020 and 2023, winning the prestigious Dianne Alagich Medal in her debut season.
Her decorated playing career also included spells with Feyenoord, FC Twente, PSV Eindhoven, Western Sydney Wanderers and Vålerenga, where she helped the Norwegian side secure a historic league and cup double in 2020. Waldus has also continued to develop as a coach, earning her UEFA B Licence and working as a Video Analyst with the Netherlands U-20 side at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Waldus said “I’m grateful to the club for the opportunity to step into the role as assistant coach. The transition from player to coach went smoother than I could have hoped.
“Wishing the club and every player all the best for upcoming season. I’ll be cheering you all on, wherever your journeys may take you!
“Last but not least, thank you to the fans for all the support and the incredible atmosphere at Coopers. You make this club special!”
Adelaide United Football Director, Mitch van Gellekom, thanked Waldus for her contribution to the Club.
“Maruschka has made a significant contribution to Adelaide United, both as a player and as a coach,” van Gellekom said.
“She has been an important part of our women’s football program and brought great professionalism, experience and care to the role. I’ve enjoyed working with Maruschka over the past season and to share insights from the background we both have at PSV.
“Maruschka will always be part of the United family, and we thank her for everything she has given to the Club. We wish her all the very best for the next chapter of her career.”
