Isaías excited for season to begin

Isaias

Adelaide United midfielder Isaías says he is excited the Isuzu UTE A-League 2021/22 campaign begins next weekend following an arduous pre-season.

The Reds travel to west to tackle Perth Glory on Saturday night, hoping to start on a positive note.

The 34-year-old is raring to go after returning to the Club in August where he experienced immense success between 2013 and 2019.

He said he is glad the wait is almost over to finally begin competitive matches on a consistent basis.

“I adapted really quickly to the team and to the city,” Isaías said following a joint-training session with our A-League Women side at the Flinders Fans’ Day at Coopers Stadium.

“Obviously I know almost everything about the city and about the Club and I’m very happy to be back and I’m really looking forward to the start of the season.

“The pre-season has been long but absolutely we’re ready to start and we’re excited to start.”

Isaías admitted it was premature to speculate if this current squad is Championship material but believes there is a good balance of youth and experience.

“We have a strong squad, we have very young players with a lot of talent,” he said.

“That’s a very good thing. But also, we have the experienced side, so I hope that we can start a strong season and hopefully we can have a successful season.”

The Spaniard said he takes great pride in the way the Club integrates both the men’s and women’s teams to achieve events like today.

It is the second year in a row the Club has organised a combined training session at Coopers Stadium.

“It’s nice, it’s a family Club,” he explained.

“They try to do everything so close for the fans, for the players, from the people who work in the office very hard.

“So everyone is one community and I’m very proud to be involved.”
