Adelaide United Youth Team travel to take on Brisbane Roar Youth Team on Saturday Evening in Round 2 of Foxtel National Youth League.

The Young Reds will look to continue on from last week’s win after a late double by substitute Dylan Smith secured them the three points.

Being a young team with many debutants, some of the players looked nervous to start off their first game of the season.

“For a lot of them it was their first Youth League game… They want to show that they’re capable of playing good football, (and) that they are worth wearing the Adelaide United shirt. Said Youth Coach Michael Valkanis.

“You get a little bit nervous and I think we showed that in the first 25 minutes, but after that we started getting into the game and I think in the second half we were a lot better.”

Now that the team have shaken off some of the first game jitters, they face their first away encounter for the 2014/15 season.

And with some of the errors smoothed out during training earlier in the week, the Young Reds will be confident ahead of the game.

“They’ve made that step now and they’ll be looking forward to the next game. Said Coach Michael Valkanis.

“We’ve prepared the best we can for it… There are obviously things we want improve in when we go about playing our style.

“We worked on the mistakes that we made in the first game to ensure we improve.”

In the last couple of sessions the focus has been set towards the game ahead and the opposition, Brisbane Roar.

With the Roar coming off a nil-all drew in their first round encounter away at Central Coast the Young Reds will look rattle them early.
