Adelaide United will take on Melbourne City FC at ANZAC Oval in Alice Springs.

The Red will be looking to test their squad against another Hyundai A-League opposition before the upcoming season.

Adelaide United warmed up in its Northern Territory exposure with a 10-0 win against Alice Springs All Stars on Thursday night in Alice Springs.

Following the match, the team spent time embracing the community through school visits, training camps and traditional ‘outback’ experiences.

Melbourne City FC will make its third trip to regional Australia this pre-season with trips to Bendigo and Lismore still to come. The full senior list is scheduled to travel to Alice Springs with a number of trialists also playing for a spot on the senior or NYL lists.

ANZAC Oval has hosted a National Rugby League pre-seaon match in 2006 but this will be the first time A-League teams will play at the ground, introducing football to new territory.

The Reds will have plenty to play for in the Red Centre with the side preparing for the next round of the FFA Cup. With that in mind, Adelaide United will be fielding a strong line-up on Saturday afternoon.

Injured trio Cassio, Michael Marrone and Fabio Ferreira along with Youth Team striker Anthony Costa have all remained back home, however, the new Spaniard Pablo Sánchez will be featuring in the match.

Head Coach Josep Gombau will use this match as a chance to see his players tested against a strong opposition.

“This sort of game is very valuable for us, as we can try things that we’ve been working in the past couple of weeks,” said Gombau

“It’s a game to test our players and gain valuable game-time minutes.

“I am satisfied with the players leading up to this game and it’s important for the them as it provides an opportunity to see if they understand what we want.”

Tickets for the Hyundai A-League pre-season match will be available at the gate.

Prices are as follows: Unreserved grandstand seating: Adult $15, concession and under 16 $10, children under 5 free and family ticket $40; General admission: Adult $10, concession and under 16 $5, children under 5 free and family ticket $25.
