Adelaide United FC will go into its final pre season trial match against Melbourne Victory this afternoon minus three of its prime movers.

Marcelo Carrusca, Sergio Cirio and Michael Zullo all stayed behind as the Reds- travelling party flew out this morning for this afternoon-s closed hit out against the Victory at AAMI Park.

Head Coach Josep Gombau has decided against playing the trio in the pre season match as a precaution in order that they are all ready to go for Round 1 on Sunday week against Perth Glory.

The trio pulled up sore from last week-s win over Melbourne Heart and while it is a case of ‘if they had to play they could-, Gombau will not risk them ten days out from the club-s season opener.

On the upside, Jeronimo Neumann returns after injuring his shoulder in a freak mishap in the warm up at training a couple of weeks ago, while Jake Barker-Daish, Awer Mabil and John Hall have also been included in the squad to take on the Victory.

Meanwhile, triallist Brent McGrath will again have another chance to impress up front, while Cassio (quad) and Bruce Djite (ankle) continue to improve through their rehabilitation programs, however neither is a chance of being considered to play in Round 1.

Kick-Off at AAMI Park is at 3.00pm Adelaide time.
