Adrian Stenta says Adelaide United must improve in all facets of the game when they take on Canberra United at Marden Sports Complex on Sunday.
Stenta said he was frustrated with the 5-1 loss against Melbourne Victory last weekend.
“We’re bitterly disappointed with the result,” he said.
“It’s certainly not what we were expecting or hoping for and to lose a game where you concede four goals in a half and concede five isn’t great.
“We’re not shying away from that.
“But there were some good moments to come out of the game as well, some positives.
“It’s just about how we maximise those and how we can minimise the mistakes we made that we really got punished for on the weekend.”
Stenta said they worked meticulously in training this week to rectify the situation and make the necessary tactical adjustments.
“We need to be better in all phases of the game,” he said.
“We need to be stronger with our defensive action and we focused on that a bit.
“We need to be more clinical in front of goals, creating chances is a good thing but we need to be able to finish those off.
“And we need to have more control through midfield.”
The Head Coach was anticipating a difficult contest with Canberra, who are also coming into the match off the back of a loss – a 1-0 defeat to Melbourne City.
“It’s always a tough game against Canberra,” he continued.
“We’re expecting a really disciplined performance. They’ve got a lot of experience in their side. They’re well coached, so we’re expecting a tough test and we think they’re looking to bounce back just like we’re.”
