Adelaide United FC will take on the Newcastle Jets at Bathurst-s Carrington Park in the Hyundai A-League-s selection of Community Matches for the upcoming season.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) announced the venues for the five Community Matches earlier today, which will see the Reds- scheduled regional encounter against the Jets on Wednesday 25 January 2012 take place in the New South Wales central tablelands town.
The initiative to introduce Australia-s best football to other areas of the country and New Zealand is aimed at taking the Hyundai A-League to exciting new frontiers.
“This is a very exciting day for football in Australia and New Zealand as the game spreads its wings and takes the Hyundai A-League to fresh, regional markets while also reaching out to our large and vociferous football community,” said Head of Hyundai A-League Lyall Gorman.
“For the first time we take an official Hyundai A-League match to five fantastic areas where the community has been calling out for a taste of the best live domestic football this country has to offer.
“FFA this year has worked tirelessly in preparing a fixture schedule that offers a wide range of positives for our football loving community and these fixtures should prove another exciting proposition for season seven.
“Football is the game of the Australian people. It is played and supported by more people than any other code, not just in metropolitan Australia but in the regions and suburbs.
“This important innovation to the Hyundai A-League draw gives all Australians the opportunity to say, whether they live in a big city or a smaller town, We Are Football.”
Other locations that will hold Community Matches include Morwell, Dunedin, Campbelltown and Launceston.
In addition, the FFA also confirmed that Adelaide United-s Week 7 match against Wellington Phoenix on November 19 will be played at Eden Park in Auckland, while the switch of venue from Skilled Park to Hindmarsh Stadium for Adelaide United-s November 11 match against Gold Coast United has also been approved.
