Thanks to Stratco, Adelaide United is set to play a significant part in the new chapter of the building and hardware organistion’s ‘Water for the World’ campaign.
In 2011/12, goals scored by the Reds will carry even greater meaning than that of just notching up ticks in the win column. For every goal the Reds score next season, Adelaide United major sponsor and South Australia-s leading building and hardware specialist, Stratco, has agreed to donate $2000 to its Water for the World program – a project delivering essential infrastructure for the provision of clean water in developing countries in partnership with World Vision.
To officially announce the exciting new chapter of the campaign, which Stratco originally founded in 2006, World Vision Australia-s Tim Costello made a special appearance at Hindmarsh Stadium alongside some of the Reds- biggest stars.
Johnny Warren Medallist Marcos Flores and Hyundai A-League Golden Boot Winner Sergio van Dijk and were on hand to have a kick with Mr Costello and warm him up to go one on one with Reds number one Eugene Galekovic.
Stratco Marketing Manager Shane Jones said the new funding announcement would enable the program to continue to grow.
“We are proud supporters of Adelaide United, and combining the two seemed like the perfect opportunity to further raise funds and the profile of the cause.”
“World Vision has assisted us in implementing the Water for the World program. We-re excited to have the likes of Tim Costello on board to make a difference to lives of people in places where access to clean drinking water is a major burden.”
Presented with his own Adelaide United strip, Mr Costello enjoyed the opportunity to mix it with the Reds trio and promote the cause.
“It is great to partner with companies like Stratco, who see the needs of those living without access to safe drinking water and creatively use their networks to make a real difference,” Mr Costello said.
“I love my football and to think that it can change the lives of children born without a chance. That is a real goal to kick.”
Through Water for the World, Stratco has worked in partnership with Oxfam Australia and World Vision to construct essential water infrastructure and introduce new techniques for water management in communities in the Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Uganda and Tanzania.
In addition to the $2,000 being donated per goal, $5 from every sale of Stratco-s aqua mod and aqua barrel tanks goes to the Stratco Water for the World program.
With this added incentive for the Reds to find the back of the net in 2011/12, next season is going to be one not to miss.
