Our Reds Rewind series continues with an absolutely phenomenal individual goal from Mathew Leckie against North Queensland Fury in 2009.
Leckie was beginning to develop a reputation as one of Australia’s brightest talents while on the books of Adelaide United.
His fabulous individual effort in Round 8 of the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season was just another example of what was to come in the burgeoning career of the then 18-year-old.
In stoppage time, the speedster collected the ball on the halfway line and dribbled diagonally across field, dragging a Fury defender with him.
Continuing to run at full-speed, he checked back onto his preferred right foot, and had the composure to nonchalantly finish his shot into the bottom right corner to safeguard a 2-0 win for the Reds.
