Adelaide United Youth face Adelaide Comets in Round 1 of the National Premier League Finals Series at SA Athletics Stadium on Saturday.
The Young Reds are in high spirts after another great performance ahead of their do-or-die affair and inaugural finals campaign.
A confidence boosting 5-1 win against Para Hills last weekend will no doubt serve to benefit Paul Pezos’ side heading into the highly anticipated clash.
Captain, Paul Wilson, was ecstatic with the result and even more pleased with the team’s form coming into the Elimination Final.
“Honestly, it was a strange game, we came out and we didn’t want to take our foot off the pedal before finals,” Wilson said.
“Things just really went our way that game and everyone was just on fire, as well as Para Hills, they seemed to not be up for the intensity we brought to them.”
Having done the league double over the fourth-placed Comets during the regular season, the Reds captain was looking forward to another big game.
“I’m honestly happy, we know, and they know that we’re a threat, we love these games against big teams,” he said.
“It’s just another one of those games, I think they’ll be really cautious with us coming into this final.”

Wilson was delighted with previous performances against the Comets side and was certain the previous results would be weighing heavily on their minds.
“I feel as though we’ve never doubted ourselves in any game this season, we’ve had the belief that we can come out and take it to teams,” he said.
“Comets is one of those teams where every game we’ve give it to them, we haven’t backed down and we’ve come out guns blazing every time.
“In a time like finals it’s even more, so we’ll come out and play like animals.”
With the club’s maiden Elimination Final beckoning, Wilson could hardly contain his excitement.
The Reds captain was quick to mention that, as a club, the Reds have struggled in his tenure but always strived for a finals finish.
“I’ve been at the club for a few years and normally we’re not even close to this stage,” he admitted.
“This year it’s just felt different, we haven’t just been saying let’s make finals we believed that we could actually do it.
“It’s major props to the boys, to the coach and everyone, the team that we have and the players that are coming in and out.
“Everyone knows their roles and they’re all playing so well, we’re all so excited, we can’t wait for the game to come and we can’t wait to get a result.”
