Scott Galloway says he is expecting Wellington Phoenix to provide another strong test for Adelaide United when the two sides meet at Westpac Stadium on Saturday night.
Galloway, 23, returns to face his former side and is aware of the Phoenix’s attacking quality and ability to break swiftly in transition.
“Watching them and the pace that they have especially on the counter-attack, the way they play is they’ve got five at the back and then they’ve got some classy, quick players up front,” Galloway said at Adelaide Airport ahead of the Round 5 match.
“Obviously being there last year I played and trained everyday on the likes of (Roy) Krishna.
“So that’s who I’ll most likely come up against in the game but then David Williams as well and Nathan Burns – they’re all players I’ve played against them in the past.
“For me it’s nothing different, you know your job and your responsibility and it’s up to you to do it.”
The Reds will be optimistic of bouncing back following their 2-0 loss to Perth Glory before the international break.
Galloway said the team analysed their deficiencies in the game and are ready to put that disappointing result behind them.
“I think the start of the season has obviously had its up and then had it’s down as well,” Galloway continued.
“We’ve had three home games to start the season and we haven’t won any of them but then we had a very good win away and won the (FFA) Cup as well.
“The loss to Perth hurt us a lot… but now it’s time to put that in the past, we’ve learned from it, watched the video and bounced back and have a good result and have a good game this weekend.”
Since joining the Reds during the off-season, Galloway has gone on to start all nine of Adelaide’s matches to start the year across both competitions.
Galloway said he is thrilled with his decision to move to Adelaide and believes his game has improved as a result.
“For me the move that I wanted to make and the reason coming here was to come to a classy, competitive team,” he revealed
“Somewhere that’s going to push me and drive me to become the best player that I am.
“And I believe so far it’s done that, I’ve not regretted a single thing, I’ve loved every minute of being in Adelaide and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead as well.”
