A sensational strike from Alhassan Toure has inspired Adelaide United Youth to a thrilling 2-1 win over league leaders Campbelltown City on Saturday.
Toure curled in a brilliant effort from the edge of the area in the 85th minute to consign the Red Devils to their first defeat since Round 3.
Yohei Matsumoto broke the deadlock inside four minutes for the hosts, courtesy of his shot taking a wicked deflection. But interim captain, Aladin Irabona, converted a penalty later in the first half to restore parity.
Campbelltown raced to an early lead before United Youth could settle with Matsumoto’s angled shot ricocheting off a defender and beating the goalkeeper.
However, the Young Reds remained upbeat, dominating the corner count as they searched for an equaliser.
And it arrived in the form of a penalty. Irabona’s brilliantly disguised through ball caught a static Campbelltown defence napping for Jai King to meet and as he tried to round the Red Devils shot stopper he was fouled in the process.
Irabona stepped up to confidently dispatch the penalty on 29 minutes, placing the ball low into the bottom left corner.
It was an extremely tight match during the first part of the second-half with chances coming at a premium.

For the most part the Young Reds had to do a lot of the defending, content with Campbelltown controlling possession in harmless areas of the pitch.
And their lack of polish in the final third allowed Adelaide to capitalise on a rare foray forward.
A long ball was controlled by Toure on the left wing before cutting inside and skipping past his opponent to unleash a ferocious drive into the top right corner for his second goal in as many matches.
It was a goal worthy of claiming all three points as United hover just outside the top six.
