Adelaide United are in the FFA Cup Semi-finals for a third straight year and record fourth overall.

The Reds will travel to Gosford to face the Central Coast Mariners on Wednesday night with a third consecutive final berth on the line.

The holders meet the Mariners in the last four of the competition for the first time since 2014.

Here are our three previous Semi-final encounters.

2014 – 3-2 win vs Central Coast Mariners

An absorbing contest played out in the semi-final encounter between the Reds and Central Coast. Sergio Cirio continued his scoring form in the cup after netting a brace with Awer Mabil also finding the target with a goal just before half-time. The Mariners pinched a goal back in injury time but the Reds held on.

2017 – 2-1 win at Western Sydney Wanderers

One final hurdle stood in the way of Adelaide’s second FFA Cup Final appearance – a tough away trip against the Wanderers. The Reds made a bright start when Johan Absalonsen evaded the attentions of Jonathan Aspro to steer his close-range finish past Vedran Janjetovic on 13 minutes. German midfielder, Daniel Adlung then doubled the lead, unleashing a swerving drive from distance. Western Sydney were given a penalty as Brendon Santalab halved the deficit with 20 minutes left.

2018 – 2-0 win at Bentleigh Greens

Following a wild start to the match, Adelaide settled and grabbed control. Ben Halloran struck first with a tidy finish, but despite their dominance, United could not add to the scoreline after squandering several chances to put the match to bed later in the first-half. Fortunately, the South Australians did not rue their wastefulness against Bentleigh as Jordan Elsey sealed the victory just after the re-start to punch the Reds’ ticket to the final.
