Adelaide United Women is pleased to announce the signing of Brazilian midfielder, Lais Araujo, for the Westfield W-League 2019/20 season.
A former youth international with the Seleção, Araujo, 23, spent the 2019 season playing in the Norwegian top-flight with Arna-Bjørnar and scored two goals in 21 matches.
In early 2017, she left Brasileiro Women outfit, Sport Recife, to return to America and played collegiality with the University of Florida before graduating in 2018. During her two years with the Gators, she made 44 appearances, registering seven goals and seven assists.
Araujo also trained with Women’s National Soccer League side, Orlando Pride, while playing for the University of Florida, and was part of Brazil’s U20 World Cup 2016 squad.

Following the arrival of the Reds’ final international, Head Coach, Ivan Karlović, said: “We are thrilled to have brought Lais to South Australia to represent Adelaide United.
“Lais is a very talented footballer who is on the radar for the Brazilian national team and I am very confident that her qualities will propel the level of our football this campaign.
“She is another player with experience playing in a competitive European league and this will only benefit our team.
