On Thursday, 9 January Adelaide United Director of Football Bruce Djite decided to open it up to his Twitter followers in an impromptu Q&A session where no topic was off limits.
AUFC Media have compiled the session here where topics like player recruitment, youth development, pineapple on pizza and even stock market tips were discussed!
Hey everyone! We've got plenty going on at the moment. I've never done one of these before, but if you're online during the next 30 minutes feel free to ask me anything. #AUFCQandA

We have a number of promising young players in our youth teams and personally I look forward to seeing more of Lachlan Brook sooner rather then later and Kusini Yengi once he is back to full fitness. I hope you come and watch our youth games. A lot to like! #AUFCQandA https://t.co/NEPWAmkQ4e

You never know in football. Nothing formal as I type, however there has been a former player seeking to return. https://t.co/mdlZi7QIS8

Depends on what assets you own. In the short term Oil and Gold will probably spike. I would invest for the longer term though, all this geopolitical tension is just market noise. https://t.co/xDpcMC5e3F

Not a fan. lol https://t.co/kWj2Im4Qe8

1 – I don't believe we are undercutting local clubs by having 1 or 2 volunteers for 4 h/wk.
2 – We are not seeking specific kitmen/women… we are seeking people who just want to help and be a part of the club.#AUFCQandA https://t.co/P2Ce1WDv0A
— Bruce Djité (@BDjite) January 9, 2020
3 – AUFC has always had volunteers & I have lifelong friends who were volunteers here when I was a player.
4 – Volunteers do not replace paid staff.
5 – Can you find a professional sporting organisation that does not engage community volunteers?#AUFCQandA
— Bruce Djité (@BDjite) January 9, 2020
Since @AdelaideUnited's inception the Club has always used volunteers. Volunteers are used for a number of functions and are greatly appreciated by all at the Club. We are not seeking volunteers to fill a similar role. They will not even have access to the gear room. #AUFCQandA https://t.co/NzPigLGV1D

Not at this stage, but we will continue to lobby for what I believe will attract multiple benefits to SA… Economic and otherwise. @Rob_Lucas #AUFCQandA https://t.co/dVN17Oq1AO

Days missed through injury are less this year than in previous years overall. Injuries are part and parcel of the game. We are not far away from getting a few players back on board and Troisi should be back sooner rather than later. https://t.co/hTgZcvuJ0s

1 – Not planning to buy any players, I believe our squad is good enough.
2 – That is the aim!#AUFCQandA https://t.co/M2FVipbJwq

I do not believe the A-League moving to winter would be a successful move in the short term in this current environment. However, that does not mean such a move should not be explored. #AUFCQandA https://t.co/5f3Zs49g4K

They'll make the finals, @PAFC is a proud club with a proud army of volunteers. @joe_szakacs #AUFCQandA https://t.co/J4QfBeXoYc

We decided to allocate those resources to Troisi, who is a player that brings more quality than an unknown 5th foreigner. There are so many variables with foreigners e.g. Do they adapt? Does their family adapt? Etc.#AUFCQandA https://t.co/heWyobVu0z

Why take the unnecessary risks when there is one of South Australia's all time best football products wanting to return to the club. https://t.co/gMSxkcsSwp

Quality players will always be linked to other clubs. I think it just speaks to the calibre of our players. #AUFCQandA https://t.co/IbNePZqbtN

There's a couple of renewals yet to be announced publicly and as recently as this week I had another positive discussion with a senior player. Always working in the background… However, it is hard to keep everyone in a salary capped league, esp. when it is expanding. #AUFCQandA https://t.co/qytm7EM80f

They are progressing well and are good players to look out for. We look forward to seeing them back into full training in the coming weeks/month. #AUFCQandA https://t.co/bQ9ARitrke

More players doesn't equate to more development opportunities. We will always miss a few gems, every club in the world does. However, you only need to look at Mileusnic, Goodwin and Kitto to see that there are multiple pathways to becoming a pro. #AUFCQandA https://t.co/Ocb0WHvQOC

We are always on the lookout for up and coming players and with a number of scholarships now available at the club I envisage using as many as necessary to provide the best opportunities. I am proud @AdelaideUnited has given the most games/mins to U23 players in the league. https://t.co/eorGR5HvK7
— Bruce Djité (@BDjite) January 9, 2020
Firstly and foremost I am looking for good people, good characters. Overwhelmingly it is what is in between your ears that is the common trait of top quality players.#AUFCQandA https://t.co/1kCKWd40JL

30 minutes has become an hour. Many thought provoking questions and I thank each and every one of you for them. I will endeavour to get back to those I haven't answered later. Let's chat more often. #AUFCQandA @AdelaideUnited
