After having a week off last round due to Westfield FFA Cup matches last weekend, the Young Reds will head into the match with Birkalla feeling refreshed and eager to get back to winning ways.

In recent weeks, the resiliency of United to continue to perform has gratified Head Coach Mark Jones, but he says his side must utilise their dominance, taking the chances that will see them claim three points.

“It was good for the team to have a break and refresh but we are looking forward to getting back out there this weekend against Birkalla,” Jones said.

“We’ve trained hard this week and we’ve continued to work and build upon our usual tactics and stick to our plans.

“Our defensive structure has tightened, but to limit the number of goals we concede we need to play and focus for 90 minutes.

“We can create countless chances throughout a game, but it is a matter of taking those opportunities to score a goal, which can be the difference and could cost us the match.

“Our level of fitness is great as we can outrun other teams, but the physical aspect of the competition can be difficult and also makes a difference as it is men versus boys, and one cross can end up with the opposition scoring.”

Commenting on their upcoming match against Birkalla, Jones recognised the recent form of their opposition, saying his Reds must put into play their aforementioned tactics to overcome them.

“Birkalla have been in great form recently and they are climbing up the ladder well,” Jones continued. “We have a lot of potential in our squad to get the win but we must stick to our tactics.

“It will be a difficult battle, but if we limit their time with the ball and take our chances on goal, we are capable of putting in a good performances and getting the result we need.
